The morning was young going up the canyon. Rain fell over the valley... but not there. There the rocks looked as if clouds had fallen upon them like a blanket over grass for a picnic in the sun. The sun did not shine but the radiance remained. Fog covered the tall overhanging peaks and some of the rugged brown still peaked through the piles of snow. There were but few people in number, perhaps one or two only. The air was wet and chilly, smelled of winter... with a hint of that unique, very defined Utah stink.
Playing ever so softly was the still calm of piano music coming from the speakers of a laptop. At that very moment nothing could have been so perfectly serene, for it was calm, and peaceful, still and beautiful in the most imaginable sort of way.
Sitting a top a hill at the base of a canyon has a certain ere to it. Looking out over the valley you cannot help but think of all the wonder in life. There is no bad feeling taking in the view even when a snowy day clouds the sky with a grey sheet. It reminds me of home and that is a comfort. Reminds me of everything that has been, and is still yet to come. It is a thrill, a curious wonder, like the awe of a child's face during the holiday season. It is what makes everyday worth it, it is the reminder that life is good and no matter how bad things get there will always be good among us.
I love you Audrey. :)
